Love is not the product of thought which is the past. Thought cannot possibly cultivate love. Love is not hedged about and caught in jealousy, for jealousy is of the past. Love is always active present. It is not ‘I will love’ or ‘I have loved’. If you know love you will not follow anybody. Love does not obey. When you love there is neither respect nor disrespect. Don’t you know what it means really to love somebody – to love without hate, without jealousy, without anger, without wanting to interfere with what he is doing or thinking, without condemning, without comparing – don’t you know what it means? Where there is love is there comparison? When you love someone with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your body, with your entire being, is there comparison? When you totally abandon yourself to that love there is not the other. J Krishnamurti - Freedom from the known
My friend from London School of Astrology, Kieron Devlin wrote a nice article analyzing J Krishnamurti’s chart and he had asked me to share some of my insights. But I almost forgot that he asked me to check out J Krishnamurti’s chart and in the meanwhile, Kieron had published the article on his website (Kieron Devlin’s article). However, while discussing after quite a few days, I was reminded of the conversation I and Kieron had about J Krishnamurti and Kieron suggested me to post some of my insights as comments. But, I decided to write a complementary article to Kieron’s work as it would probably stand as a testimonial as to how tropical and sidereal positions lead to one unified destination in terms of chart analysis.
The huge quote at the beginning of this article from Jiddu Krishnamurti’s Freedom from the unknown is not to give an impression to the article you are going to read further but a sneak-a-peek into who this man (J Krishnamurti) is if you have not known of him as yet. J Krishnamurti did in the East what Dane Rudhyar did to the West. Interestingly, Dane Rudhyar (March 1895) and J Krishnamurti (May 1895) were born the same year which means both the philosophers had Saturn and Jupiter in the same sign (Libra and Gemini). It is time that you are informed that I have not looked at Rudhyar’s chart as yet. It is important to understand what Saturn and Jupiter in the same sign in both of these natives mean and how they have been effective in their despite a lot of difference. Of course, both Rudhyar and Krishnamurti had different ideologies but their vision was human empowerment through psychological advancement and beyond. What can we call it? Enlightenment? We can even go on to call it spirituality because the word “spirituality” means different things to different people. To me, any philosophy that puts humanity as a beneficiary is basically spirituality!
In 1903 the family settled in Cudappah, where Krishnamurti had contracted malaria during a previous stay. He would suffer recurrent bouts of the disease over many years. A sensitive and sickly child, "vague and dreamy", he was often taken to be intellectually disabled, and was beaten regularly at school by his teachers and at home by his father. In memoirs written when he was eighteen years old Krishnamurti described psychic experiences, such as seeing his sister, who had died in 1904, and his late mother. During his childhood he developed a bond with nature that was to stay with him for the rest of his life. (Wikipedia)
J Krishnamurti had a very troubled and sickly childhood which is due to the fact that the native started progressing through the Venus Mahadasha and Venus is posited in the 6th place. Venus is the 5L and 10L which makes Venus a very auspicious planet (Yoga Karaka) to the Capricorn rising. However, Venus is posited in the 6th place of diseases and debts. This is a direct indicator of the native’s suffering as a result of various health problems that continued to be chronological for a few years. Still, Venus is in a mutual reception with the 6L (Mercury). Mercury rules the 9th place which makes it auspicious but Mercury also rules the 6th place for the Capricorn rising and Mercury is also responsible for what happens in the 6th place and diseases is a 6th place affair. Mercury and Venus in a parivartana yoga (mutual reception) has not worked in favour of the native.
During the childhood days, the native did not have much to cheer about from his parents because of the fact that the 4L Mars is placed in the 6th place of Gemini along with the 3L & 12L, Jupiter causing uncertain and a troublesome childhood with some dosage of abusiveness. Venus signifies hurdles, unclear path of life and lack of nourishment as a child because of its aversion from the ascendant as a yoga karaka. Triplicity ruler of the Dasha lord Venus is Mercury and Mercury despite giving some harsh times to the native, is probably educating the child in a philosophical manner to be a “Guru” very early in life with enlightenment because Mercury also rules the 9th place. However, Mercury’s 6th place rulership seems to have more impact here because Mercury is in mutual reception with the timelord (Venus).

Libra is the preliminary gateway of a native’s life beyond personal spectrum. Libra is about trying to bring balance between various things that we deal with in life. Libra promotes learning through experiences and the native has certainly learnt a lot from his troubled childhood. Ruler of the ascendant Saturn is posited in an exalted position of Libra. However, Saturn is retrograde. Retrograde Saturn in Libra tends to look upto the past experiences in terms of deciding the future course of life. In this case, the native had very less nourishment and love as a child. Once a man, the native really had the ability to see love as an abstract thing without having it attached to anything. J Krishnamurti had the vision to see all forms of love (mother, wife and others) as one equal thing and he did not discriminate any form of love. However, the intensity of the development of this ideology must have changed over a period of time in life and that is what you will read when I talk about the sect light (Moon).
Sun opposite Saturn signifies that life is learnt through discouragement from troubled situations. Lessons of life are always learnt in a hard manner. The native would have got into such a situation where he might have had to become over self critical about himself in terms of doubting his own need to live this life worrying over the limited capabilities and scarce resources that the native had in life. No wonder this native had health challenges for a major part of childhood and teenage because Saturn, an out of sect malefic is aspecting Sun in the 4th place which signifies basic comforts, nourishment and general well being.
This is a nocturnal chart and Moon is the sect light. But, Moon is placed in the 12th place in the bounds of Jupiter in Sagittarius. The first 12° of Sagittarius belong to Jupiter: active men. These degrees are damp but temperate, dabbling in all crafts and skills, prolific, with many children and brothers, yet poor. ( Page 7, Anthology by Vettius Valens - A Translation by Mark Riley). J Krishnamurti was certainly prolific in terms of being philosophically enlightened thereby contributing some great works towards the self development of human race. However, again, Jupiter is out of sect and not in a great position to yield excellent results especially during childhood and teens. These are people who live in the dark to shed light to the world. On the other hand, Jupiter in opposition with Moon activates Gajakesari Yoga and the native was an excellent public speaker during his prime. Public speaking (Gemini - Jupiter) and spreading philosophical ideologies (Sagittarius - Moon) is a perfect testimony of this placement.
Saturn in the bounds of Venus, Mercury in the bounds of Venus, Jupiter in own bounds and Venus in the bounds of Jupiter has certainly put the native in a higher position in terms of being a humanistic philosopher. The connection between 9L and 10L (Mercury and Venus) activates Dharma-karma adhipathya yoga which results the native achieve a great position and respect in life. We are long after his period but still we are writing about this man. Venus applying to an overcoming trine aspect with Saturn is yet another indication as to why the native is popular long after his times.
