With the Pluto return on 22 February 2022, the social media is filled with astrologers talking about the Pluto return of the US which is happening for the first time since 1776, i.e. the formation of the United States of America. In my opinion, it is difficult to decipher a 248 year cycle based on one transit or other transit based aspects. We could cast a Pluto return chart but again it appears like a long shot because we have to use the same chart for the next 248 years and none of us are going to live for the next Pluto return. Moreover, using the same chart will be too monotonous for a world that is dynamic in nature. We can never forecast or make predictions that are bound to a realistic timeline. This is one of the reasons why I am skeptical about using natal charts for nations. Instead, to study longer cycles, we could use Jupiter-Saturn conjunction charts which show socio-political and socio-economic changes that generally alter the regular course for people, society, cities or nations. In brief post, I have wrote an aerial view of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction which depicts the US in the next two decades.
Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction 1921
Following the same idea, if anyone wants to use the charts of longer periods, we could certainly use the charts of the triplicity shifts of Jupiter-Saturn conjunction. Jupiter-Saturn meet in the same element for 11/12 times during their conjunctions and change the triplicity once in around every 240 years. Last time, the triplicity shifted from fire to earth in 1921. If we want to study a larger or a big aerial view, we can use this conjunction chart. Let us now look at the conjunction chart of 1921.
Again, we will use Chakra Dasa to understand the division of the 240 years into multiple chapters of 20 years for each sign. The nativity is by night as the Sun is placed in the 6th, below the horizon. Hence, the Dasa begins from the AC itself. The sequence of the Dasa begins from Aries followed by Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Each period will be active for 20 years. If we want to calculate the sub-periods and assign participation rulers, each sign will be activated for 1 years 7 months and 27 days. Which means, in the Aries period, besides Aries being the major period, the sub-period will begin from Aries making Mars the main timelord and also the participating time lord for 1 year, 7 months and 27 days. In the Aries period, after 1 year, 7 months and 27 days, Taurus will be activated with Venus as the participating ruler. During this period, Mars will be the major time lord with Venus being the participating ruler (Aries-Taurus period).
From 2021 to 2040, the 6th house of Virgo is activated with Mercury being the major ruler. Mercury is placed in the 6th house Virgo which is very descriptive of the $30 trillion debt that the US currently has which was reported earlier this month. Mercury is in conjunction with Saturn, Jupiter and Rahu in Virgo. Mercury calls the shots in Virgo but is certainly afflicted by the presence of Saturn and Rahu. Jupiter rules the 9th house and the 12th house and is placed in the 6th house (in its detriment with reception from Mercury). This tells us about a major theme that the nation has always been at war. Immediately at the on-set of the Virgo period, America pulled their troops from Afghanistan and left them astray in the hands of the Taliban. Ironically all US governments have always maintained that they have been in Afghanistan for 20 years to fight extremism. Mercury rules the 3rd house and the 6th house and it hosts the 10th ruler Saturn. Because of Saturn’s position with Mercury (3rd ruler communication) and the 9th ruler Jupiter, the action has always been contradicting their words or their words have always contradicted their action which does explain volumes about the persistent double standards of the governments of the US.
Astrologically, we cannot expect this to end because this is an inherent feature of this chart. Moreover, we can only expect this to grow further because of Mercury’s activation. Because the 6th house is activated and also considering the dominant nature of the 6th house, the US will make enemies and there will be no end to it. We should not forget that Mercury is placed in the nodal axis. Without spending too much in this chart, we shall move to the current Jupiter-Saturn conjunction chart to have an overview of the upcoming period.
On the other hand, the US has been a favourite destination to live their life for over many years because of the AC ruler Mars position in the 5th house. The US has been home to many immigrants who dream to live a great life away from their home where the economic and living conditions are not upto the mark. There are a lot more positives such as education. With Venus in the 4th house and the 4th ruler, the Moon in the 9th house, the US has been a favourite spot for higher education for millions of foreign nations who continued to live their dream in the land of opportunities. Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction 2020
Aquarius was rising when Jupiter and Saturn came into a conjunction on 21 December 2020. The ruler of the AC, Saturn is placed in the 12th house of wars and hospitalization in conjunction with Jupiter which is in its debilitation. Since Jupiter is debilitated, Saturn’s position in the 12th house indicates wars and crimes against humanity. The US has been reeling with the problem of gun-men who have been shooting at random people in public places for so many years now. This will only increase to an alarming rate in the next 20 years. There will be lot of expenditure, increase of incurring losses, being vulnerable to social evils such as terrorism, spies and other anti-social elements. With the ruler of the 1st house in the 12th house, the identity of the nation as a super-power will come into question and reputation will be lost on the international stage.
The first half of the period will be Capricorn period while the 2nd half will be Aquarius period and this makes Saturn as the major ruler of the entire year. Hence, the war tensions should be towards the end of August and this will eventually lead the US to a position where it has to face the identity crisis.
Saturn is in conjunction with the 2nd and the 11th ruler, Jupiter. Jupiter ruling the 2nd and the 11th houses is debilitated in the 12th house which is a very big worry concerning the economy of the country. There will be a consistent downward trend in the economic condition of the nation and there by the people also. Besides, there will be a lot of agitation related protests because Mars is in conjunction with the Moon and the dispositor Jupiter is badly placed in the 12th house. With Rahu in the 4th house and its dispositor Venus in its detriment in conjunction with Ketu, the living conditions of the people will see a sharp decline.
The inflation rate in the US is already at its record high and there will be a lot of fluctuations in this. The rise in inflation to such high figures is just a story of one year from January 2021 to January 2022. The economic condition of the US will continue to see the downward trend through this cycle of Jupiter-Saturn conjunction despite signs of recovery every now and then. With Jupiter fallen and Venus in the nodal axis, the US dollar will also see a major decline in global trading platforms. Because the dollar will begin losing its value, many countries will cease to hold dollars as part of their foreign reserves which will organically deflate the economic power of the US. This will be the major theme of the next two decades but the realization will come only after the end of this cycle. By 2040, we will have a new economic superpower. I will probably write another article after analyzing which country will replace the US to become a new economic superpower.
